In less than three years, photographer IVORY LAWRENCE has become one of the most sought after photographers throughout the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. The Buffalo, New York native sights his extensive international travels while serving in the military as the key to his creative outlook on each model and location he shoots. Lawrence also has experience in front of the camera as a model and a background in graphic design and information technology. Lawrence is now using his various skill sets to give back to the community and teach photo editing and lighting workshops to others.

Support our Black Films! “Jumping the Broom”

As I left the theater after watching Jumping The Broom, I felt optimistic for the direction that African American film are going in. Though it appears as if the same actors and actresses that are typically in black films were casted, Salim’s film satisfies the hunger for an all Black cast with a plot substantially different from oftentimes stereotypical Black Films. Jumping the Broom is a romantic comedy, with depth that delves into issues that African Americans have with one another when money and class are involved.
