At Work With…ALADDIN of WPGC 95.5
In the latest “At Work With…” episode, AimerAmour spends the day with ALADDIN, Prince of the Airwayz from WPGC 95.5 The Washington, DC native is an excellent role model for any on-air radio aspirants. A former international tap dancer, Aladdin has had many career accomplishments before the age of 25. In less than 4 years, Aladdin worked his way up from interning at WPGC to producing the Donny Simpson Morning Show as well as Co-Producing Big Tigger’s “Live in Tha Den” radio show.
Producing and contributing to the Home Team and the Donny Simpson Morning show resulted in Aladdin receiving the opportunity to have his own show, “Nocturnal Nation” every Monday through Friday from 2am-6am. Aladdin comments, “This station is my second home, I’ve literally worked 12 to 16 hours shifts, damn near spent the night here on many occasions but it was well worth it, I’m doing what I love, living out my dreams and not many people can say that.”
Aladdin definitely leads a “nocturnal” lifestyle. Before heading to WPGC at 2am, he can be found hosting celebrity events and parties at some of the areas most popular venues including Josephine’s Night Club on Wednesday’s and The PARK at 14th on Friday’s. After the club and his radio show, Aladdin may get two hours of sleep before heading to a school to speak with middle and high school students about the importance of education as well as his experiences within the entertainment industry. In the video, Aladdin discusses a tough upbringing which motivates him to give back to the next generation in hopes of inspiring them to go above and beyond their surroundings.
With aspirations of one day transitioning from radio to broadcast journalism for a shows such as “Entertainment Tonight”, Aladdin is definitely one to watch in 2012 and beyond.
