Where You Need to Be: RED BULL EMSEE, DC!
AimerAmour is excited to attend the highly anticipated RED BULL EMSEE event this Monday, October 24th at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. Hosted by legendary rapper, BUN B, the event is an invitation-only battle series designed to find the best freestyle rappers in the country and give them a national platform to show their skills and earn acclaim.
On what makes this event different from any other freestyle battle, Howard University Red Bull Student Brand Manager, Duclas Charles states, “Red Bull EmSee is Red Bull’s way of bringing a unique spin, and challenge to an art form and skill that has been respected and praised in Hip Hop Culture for many years.”
Big K.R.I.T alongside veteran emcees Joe Budden and Devin the Dude will be serving as judges and performers. The winner of Monday’s event will advance to the finals in Atlanta this fall where he’ll vie for the national championship and an opportunity to record with a headlining producer of his choice.
Red Bull EmSee’s innovative battle format challenges MCs to bring the true freestyle spirit back by adding a twist to the conventional head-to-head clash. During the competition, MCs are posed with a variety of challenges designed to showcase their technique, creativity and dexterity.
In addition to spitting flows over beats and acapella, MCs are challenged to come up with hard-hitting verses straight off the dome based on visual cues and themes text messaged to screen by the judges and audience. On his expectations for the event, Howard University student Ryan Smith comments, “Bun B is a legend-he’s perfect to host this event. I’m expecting Red Bull EmSee to raise the bar for all aspiring artists in attendance”.
